SALT LAKE CITY--The University of Utah women's tennis team ended the regular season with a win at home over Colorado, 4-1.
The Utes improved to 9-10 on the season and 3-7 in Pac-12 play heading into the conference tournament next week in Ojai, Calif.
In doubles play,
Jena Cheng and
Taylor Calton started the Utes off with a 6-3 win over Brigitte Beck and Annabelle Andrinopoloulos in the No. 2 spot. A 6-3 win from senior
Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa and freshman
Whitney Turley clinched the doubles point for the Utes.
In singles play, Gerstner Da Rosa continued her solid Senior Day performance with a win in the No. 6 spot, 7-5, 6-1.Â
Whitney Turley came back from a 4-0 deficit in the first set to win the match over Chloe Hule, 7-6, 6-2. A win by Pletcher in the No. 1 spot secured the victory for the Utes.
As of right now, the Utes are scheduled to open the Pac-12 Tournament on Wednesday at 11 a.m. vs. Arizona. This year's tournament will be run as a team event, a change from previous years where it consisted of singles and doubles competitions.
