SALT LAKE CITY—Utah gymnast
Shannon McNatt, a 4.00 student majoring in economics, has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large first team. The team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and scholastically, is voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). McNatt, as a first-team All-District honoree, now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.

A latecomer to Utah's starting lineup, McNatt scored a 9.90 in her first career start on the balance beam at the 2017 Fayetteville Regional and won the event. Her performance helped the Utes win the regional title and advance to the NCAA Championships.

Competing under pressure-packed conditions after a teammate fell off the beam at the 2017 NCAA Championships, McNatt scored a 9.7625 as Utah's final competitor to secure a fifth-place finish for the Utes.

The sophomore from Houston, Texas, also vaulted for Utah's 2017 Pac-12 Championship team and was named first-team Pac-12 All-Academic.

The At-Large team is comprised of the 14 women's NCAA-sponsored sports that do not have their own CoSIDA Academic All-America programs: beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo. The CoSIDA All-America At-Large teams will be announced later this month.
