SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah Softball will find out what awaits it in the 2017 NCAA Softball Tournament this evening as the NCAA Division I Softball Selection Committee will reveal the 64-team field beginning at 8 p.m. MT. The selection show will air live on ESPN2.
The Utes went 33-14 overall and finished fifth in the Pac-12 Conference with a record of 13-9. Utah is ranked No. 13 in the latest NFCA/USA Today Poll and checked in at No. 16 in the most recent RPI standings.
With 11 wins against teams ranked in the Top 25, including a series victory over No. 1 Arizona, a sweep of No. 10 UCLA in Westwood and shutouts of No. 13 Tennessee and No. 7 LSU, the Utes hold out hope of hosting a NCAA regional for the first time ever.Â
Utah will be heading to the NCAA Tournament for a record third year in a row and 15th time overall. The Utes have an all-time record of 21-32 in NCAA postseason play, including a 20-24 record in Regional Tournaments.

Last season, Utah won three of four games at the Lexington Regional to advance to Super Regionals for the first time since the expansion of the NCAA Tournament. The Utes were then beaten by No. 8 Florida State
Regionals for the NCAA Division I Softball Championship will be held May 19-21, 2017 on 16 campus sites. At each campus site, a four-team, double-elimination tournament will be conducted and the 16 winning teams advanced to the Super Regionals.
Super Regionals for the NCAA Division I Softball Championship will be held May 25-28, 2017 on eight campus sites. At each site, two teams play in a best-of-three tournament format. The winners from each site advance to the NCAA Women's College World Series.
The 2017 NCAA Women's College World Series will be held at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium - OGE Energy Field in Oklahoma City, June 1-6/7, 2017. The eight teams will compete in a double elimination bracket with the final two teams then competing in a best of three format. This is the 36th annual NCAA Division I Softball Championship and the 27th time that Oklahoma City and USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium - OGE Energy Field will host this premier college softball championship event.Â
