Utah Rallies from Deficit to Beat ASU, 11-10, Sweeping Series

The walk off was a culmination of a wild game that saw Utah rally from a 7-0 deficit and saw four lead changes in the final four innings.

Zack Moeller hit a grand slam to drive in four runs and Chandler Anderson went 3-for-4 on the day at the plate. Ellis Kelly was 3-for-5 with three RBI and Oliver Dunn also was 3-for-5.
Utah (27-24, 15-15 Pac-12) used five pitchers, with Josh Tedeschi getting the win after throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Josh Lapiana, Trenton Stoltz, Jacob Rebar, Chase Bauerle and Tanner Thomas all pitched for the Utes.
Arizona State scored two runs in the first inning off a two-run home run. DaShawn Keirsey, Jr., suffered a hip injury on the play, leading to a lengthy delay in the game. The Sun Devils had a solo home run in the second and scored four runs on four hits (including three unearned runs after two errors) in the top of the third for a 7-0 lead.
Utah came back with a vengeance in the bottom of the third, tying the game at 7-7. Josh Rose walked to lead off the inning and Max Schuman singled to put runners on the corners. Anderson beat out an infield single for a hit to score Utah's first run of the game, while Dallas Carroll doubled to send in another run. Hunter Simmons loaded the bases with a hit that just grazed his bat and landed just fair on the left side. Zack Moeller stepped up to the plate and brought Utah to within a run with a grand slam, making it 7-6. Wade Gulden and Oliver Dunn kept things going with singles to set up an RBI single from Kelly, tying the game at 7-7.

The final innings were a flurry of lead changes. Arizona State pulled ahead in the top of the sixth, 8-7, with a run scoring on a wild pitch following a pair of singles. Utah took a 9-8 lead in the seventh. After loading the bases following a pair of singles and a hit batter, Kelly hit an infield single that sent in a pair of runs. ASU pulled back ahead in the eighth, 10-9, with two runs on three hits.

In the bottom of the ninth, Gulden and Dunn each singled to lead off the inning. Following a ground out, Ellis Kelly doubled to right field to tie the game at 10-10. Hoffman entered as a pinch hitter and with the infield in, singled through the right side for the game-winning run.
The Utes swept both Arizona schools this year, with the Utes also sweeping Arizona back on April 20-22. Utah finishes with a regular-season winning record for the first time since 2011.
