SAN FRANCISCO—Two weeks into her sophomore season, Utah's
MyKayla Skinner has already matched the Pac-12 record for most Gymnast of the Week awards in a career. This week's award—the ninth of her career and second this season—came after Skinner posted the highest all-around score in the country and won four individual titles in Sunday's quad meet against No. 4 UCLA, Washington and Stanford. She is now tied for the most career Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week honors with former UCLA gymnast Vanessa Zamarripa (2009-13).
Â
Skinner won the all-around (39.700), floor (9.975), vault (9.95) and bars (9.95) and placed second on beam (9.825) in the Elevate the Stage meet in Reno, Nev., last Sunday, where Utah finished a close second to UCLA.
Â
With her all-around victory at the meet—where she beat the nation's No. 1 and No. 3-ranked all-arounders in Stanford's Elizabeth Price and UCLA's Kyla Ross—Skinner remains undefeated against Pac-12 competition in her first two seasons. She is currently second in the nation in the all-around and tied for second on vault and third on bars.
Â
Skinner has won seven of a possible 10 individual titles in Utah's first two meets.
Â
Last year as a freshman, Skinner set Pac-12 single-season records for Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week (7) and Freshman of the Week (6) awards.
