SAN FRANCISCO—Utah sophomore
MyKayla Skinner has been named Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season and a Pac-12 record 10th time in her career, the conference office announced today. Skinner won every individual event title and tied for the highest all-around score in the nation last week in Utah's win over Arizona State.
Â
Skinner now holds the Pac-12 single-season and career marks for most Gymnast of the Week awards. She won the honor a record seven times last year and her 10 career awards surpasses former UCLA gymnast Vanessa Zamarripa, who was a nine-time honoree from 2009-13.
Â
Skinner won the all-around (39.675), vault (9.90), bars (9.925), beam (9.90) and floor (9.95) in Utah's 197.075-195.400 over No. 17 ASU last Friday. Her five wins brought her season victory total to a team-high 17. She also picked up her 16th career all-around win, which ranks fourth all-time at Utah. Her 39.675 all-around score vs. ASU tied the ninth-best score in school history.
Â
Skinner, the 2017 NCAA all-around runner-up and Pac-12 all-around champion, is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation in the all-around.
Â
Utah has won four Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week citations this season: Skinner on Jan. 9, 16 and Feb. 13, and
MaKenna Merrell-Giles on Feb. 6.
