This Week in Utah Gymnastics
The No. 2 ranked Utah gymnasts (6-1, 3-0 Pac-12) will host No. 17 Arizona State (5-2, 2-1 Pac-12) in "Throwback" night on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. Tickets are available at UtahTickets.com and 801-581-UTIX. The meet will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks and ESPN 700 radio.

The Ute gymnasts will wear a new throwback leotard for their meet against ASU … The first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive a throwback headband sponsored by Smith's … Following the meet, Utah gymnastics alumnae will join the teams on the floor for the awards ceremony … The Kid Zone opens at 5:30 p.m. and features a balloon artist, face painter, poster-making station and life-sized Swoop bobble head.

Utes Rise to No. 2
After a season-high 197.700 last Saturday in a win over Washington, the Utes jumped a place to No. 2 in the national rankings (197.335 average) behind No. 1 Oklahoma (197.813). The Utes are the nation's top ranked team on floor (49.480), led by No. 2 MaKenna Merrell-Giles (9.940 average). Utah is No. 2 on vault (49.455), where it has three vaulters ranked in the top 10: Merrell-Giles (No. 4/9.925), MyKayla Skinner (No. 5/9.920) and Kim Tessen (No. 8/9.890). The Utes are No. 3 on bars (49.280), where Skinner is ranked No. 7, and No. 9 on beam (49.120). Â Utah is the only school in the country with two all-arounders ranked in the top five (Skinner No. 3/39.580 and Merrell-Giles, No. 5/39.565). This Friday's meet vs. a resurgent ASU team will be the last home meet for the Utes until mid-March, when they return from a three-meet road stretch for Senior Night against Georgia on Mar. 16. After Friday's home meet, the Utes have back-to-back Sunday meets at UCLA (Feb. 18) and California (Feb. 25), followed by a trip to Michigan (Mar. 10) … Utah is averaging a nation-leading 15,093 fans to its home meets with a season-best crowd of 15,558 vs. Washington on Feb. 3 … MyKayla Skinner has won Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week honors twice this season and a record-tying nine times in her career … The Utes have hit 118-of-120 routines, including 24-of-24 routines in three meets … Ute individual winners are: Skinner (12), MaKenna Merrell-Giles (10), Kari Lee (2), Tiffani Lewis (2), Sydney Soloski (1) and Kim Tessen (1) … Gymnasts who have hit every routine without a fall are: Skinner (20-20), Merrell-Giles (20-20), Lewis (15-15), Lee (15-15), Macey Roberts (6-6), Sydney Soloski (5-5), Maddy Stover (5-5), Alexia Burch (3-3).and Shannon McNatt (2-2)
