This Week in Utah Gymnastics
With a 197.540 Regional Qualifying Score (RQS), Utah has earned the No. 2 seed into the 2018 Pac-12 Gymnastics Championship on Saturday, Mar. 24 in the McKale Center in Tucson, Ariz. The Utes will compete in the evening session at 6 p.m. PDT (7 p.m. MDT) along with No. 1 seed UCLA (197.840 RQS), No. 3 seed Washington (196.915) and No. 4 seed California (196.775). The 5-8 seeds competing in the early session at 1 p.m. PDT/2 p.m. MDT are Oregon State (196.765), Arizona State (196.510), Stanford (195.920) and Arizona (195.630). Both sessions will be televised live nationally on Pac-12 Networks. The evening session will also be aired on ESPN 700 radio.
 In the Rankings
The Utes remained at No. 4 for the fifth straight week in the national rankings with a 197.540 RQS. The top six also stayed unchanged with Oklahoma (198.120) No. 1, followed by LSU (197.890), UCLA (197.840), Utah (197.540), Florida (197.365) and Alabama (197.165). Utah's event rankings are No. 4 on vault (49.410), No. 7 on bars (49.320), No. 8 on beam (49.315) and No. 4 on floor (49.520). MyKayla Skinner moved up to No. 2 in the all-around (39.685 RQS) and is the top-ranked Pac-12 all-arounder. Skinner is also No. 5 on vault (9.930), No. 10T on bars (9.920), No. 18T on beam (9.905) and No. 3T on floor (9.960). MaKenna Merrell-Gilesis No. 8 in the all-around (39.575), No. 11T on vault (9.905) and No. 6 on floor (9.940). The RQS is calculated by taking a team or individual's six best regular-season-meet scores—three of which must be on the road—eliminating the high score and averaging the remaining five.  Pac-12 Championship Notes
Utah has won three of the last four Pac-12 Championships (2014, 2015, 2017). Other teams to win a title are UCLA (2012, 2016) and Oregon State (2013) … Utah has had a Pac-12 all-around champion in four of the five Pac-12 Championships to date, including MyKayla Skinner in 2017. The Utes won the 2017 Pac-12 Championship as the No. 2 seed, while finishing second in 2012 … Utah is only team to finish in the top three at all six Pac-12 Gymnastics Championships, including three first-place and two second-place finishes ... Teams were seeded into the Pac-12 Championship by Regional Qualifying Score. Five Pac-12 teams are ranked in the top 11 nationally: No. 3 UCLA, No. 4 Utah, No. 8 Washington, No. 10 California and No. 11 Oregon State … Team and individual standings at the Pac-12 Championship are determined by score, regardless of session.
 Quick Sticks
Utah finished the regular season with a 9-3 overall record and a 5-1 conference mark (tied for first with UCLA). It is Utah's fifth-straight Pac-12 regular-season title/co-title … The Utes handed UCLA its only Pac-12 loss on Feb. 18 in Los Angeles. UCLA beat Utah in a non-conference meet in Reno, Nev., on Jan. 14 … The Utes are making their second trip to Tucson this year. They beat Arizona in a dual meet in the McKale Center on Jan. 26 … Utah's 198.150 in a win over Georgia last Friday was its first 198 score since the 2015 Pac-12 Championships and tied for the fourth-best score in school history.
 No. 1 Again
Utah won its eighth NCAA all-sport women's attendance title and its sixth straight by averaging 15,139 fans at home this season. The Ute gymnasts were also the nation's top drawing team across all women's sports in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. This year's attendance average of 15,139 is the second-highest in Utah and NCAA gymnastics history.
 Post-Pac
Utah will host one of six NCAA Regionals on Saturday, Apr. 7. As a host, the Utes are guaranteed a berth in the Salt Lake City Regional. The other regionals are in Columbus, Ohio; Minneapolis; Raleigh, N.C.; Tuscaloosa, Ala. and University Park, Pa. The regional fields will be announced on Monday, Mar. 26 at 2 p.m. MDT on www.ncaa.com. See boxed inset on page 3 of this release for the path to through the postseason.
 Winner Skinner
Utah sophomore MyKayla Skinner, a four-time Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week this season, has won a record 11 career Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week awards—two more than any gymnast in conference history. A year ago, Skinner set Pac-12 records for most Gymnast of the Week (7) and Freshman of the Week (6) honors. Skinner continues to move up the Ute win charts. Her 19 career all-around victories in just two seasons is already second in school history and she has 71 total individual titles, including 28 this year (seven all-around).

Utes have won five Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week citations: MyKayla Skinneron Jan. 9, Jan. 16, Feb. 13 and Feb. 20 and MaKenna Merrell-Gileson Feb. 6 … The Utes have hit 233-of-240 routines.
