This Week in Utah Gymnastics
The No. 4 Utah gymnasts (8-2, 5-1 Pac-12) return to action with a tough test against No. 7 Michigan on Saturday, Mar. 10 in Ann Arbor. The meet starts at 2 p.m. ET/noon MT and will be televised on the Big Ten Network. Live Utah commentary and scores will be available on UtahUtes.com. Utah had a bye last week.

In the Rankings
The Utes held steady at No. 4 in the new national rankings. The top five by Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) are: Oklahoma (197.980), LSU (197.715), UCLA (197.650) and Utah (197.415). Utah's event rankings are No. 3/tie on vault (49.395), No. 6 on bars (49.295), No. 8 on beam (49.275) and No. 3 floor (49.485). Individually,
MyKayla Skinner is No. 5 in the nation in the all-around (39.600 RQS), No. 4 on vault (9.925), tied for 12th on bars (9.905) and tied for sixth on floor (9.930).
MaKenna Merrell-Giles is tied for seventh in the all-around (39.535), tied for sixth on floor (9.930) and tied for 12th on vault (9.895). The national rankings will be based on RQS for the remainder of the season (starting on Feb. 26). The RQS is calculated by taking a team or individual's six best regular-season-meet scores—three of which must be on the road—eliminating the high score and averaging the remaining five. Chalk Talk
The Utes are coming off a bye—just the 11th regular-season bye in the 43-year history of the program and the first since 2012. Other regular-season byes fell in 1977, 1978 (2), 1980, 1982, 1993, 2001 and 2008 (2) … Utah concluded its Pac-12 regular season with a 5-1 league mark. The Utes have just two meets remaining on their dual meet schedule—non-conference affairs against Michigan on Mar. 10 and Georgia on Mar. 16. The Pac-12 Championship is in Tucson, Ariz., on Mar. 24 … Utes have won five Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week citations:
MyKayla Skinner on Jan. 9, Jan. 16, Feb. 13 and Feb. 20 and

MyKayla Skinner expects to return to the all-around lineup at Michigan after sitting out on vault and floor for precautionary reasons in Utah's last meet due to a sore ankle. The Cal meet on Feb. 25 was the first meet of her career that Skinner did not compete in the all-around … Utah has four 39.500 or better all-arounders:

Utah sophomore
MyKayla Skinner, a four-time Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week this season, has won a record 11 career Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week awards—two more than any gymnast in conference history. A year ago, Skinner set Pac-12 records for most Gymnast of the Week (7) and Freshman of the Week (6) honors. Skinner continues to move up the Ute win charts. Her 17 career all-around victories is tied for third in school history and she has 64 total individual titles in her first two seasons, including 21 this year (five all-around).
