Salt Lake City Regional is April 7
The No. 4 ranked Utes have earned the top seed in the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional on Saturday, Apr. 7 at 4 p.m. MDT in the Huntsman Center. Joining Utah in order of seed are No. 9 California, No. 16 Auburn, No. 21 BYU, Stanford and Southern Utah. There is no TV, but a free live video stream featuring every contestant can be found at http://www.utahutes.com/ncaa/. The arena is configured lower bowl seating only for regionals, dropping the seating capacity to 8,403. The ticket office anticipates that some seats will open up once the team holds are released on Monday and encourages fans to check Utahtickets.com for availability.
 Regional Overview
All six NCAA Regional championships will be held on Apr. 7. Two teams will advance out of each regional to the 2018 NCAA Championships in St. Louis on Apr. 20-21 … Utah is attempting to qualify for a record 43rd-consecutive national championship. Utah is the only school in the country to qualify for all 36 NCAA Championships to date ... Utah has won 30 regional titles (including 27 of 36 NCAA) and finished second the other 12 years … Utah and the other five No. 1 seeds around the country were given floor as their first event by the NCAA gymnastics committee. Utah's rotation order will be floor, vault, bye before bars, bars, beam, bye. It is the first time in seven years that Utah didn't draw bars as its first competition event at regionals … The two teams advancing out of the Salt Lake Regional will compete in the evening semifinal of the NCAA Championships on Apr. 20 against qualifiers from the Minneapolis and University Park regionals.

Utah finished the regular season ranked No. 4 in the nation with a 197.540 Regional Qualifying Score (RQS). The Utes held the No. 4 position for the six final weeks of the regular season. The top six entering regionals are Oklahoma (198.120) at No. 1, followed by LSU (197.890), UCLA (197.840), Utah (197.540), Florida (197.390) and Alabama (197.165). Utah's event rankings are No. 3 on vault (49.440), No. 9 on bars (49.320), No. 8 on beam (49.320) and No. 4 on floor (49.520). MyKayla Skinner is ranked No. 2 in the all-around (39.695 RQS), No. 5 on vault (9.930), No. 10 on bars (9.925), No. 14T on beam (9.915) and No. 3T on floor (9.960). MaKenna Merrell-Gilesis No. 8 in the all-around (39.585), No. 6T on vault (9.925) and No. 6 on floor (9.940). The RQS is calculated by taking a team or individual's six best regular-season-meet scores—three of which must be on the road—eliminating the high score and averaging the remaining five.  Pac-12 Report
Led by all-around and floor co-champion MyKayla Skinner, Utah finished second at the Pac-12 Championship in Tucson, Ariz., on Mar. 24, finishing just behind UCLA (197.500-197.350). It was the sixth time in the seven years of the Pac-12 Championship that Utah finished in the top two and the sixth time a Ute won the all-around. The Utes have won three Pac-12 team titles (2014, 2015, 2017). Skinner is a five-time Pac-12 champion in her first two seasons, winning the all-around, vault and floor as a freshman and the all-around and floor this season. Junior MaKenna Merrell-Giles won her first Pac-12 title on the vault.
 Quick Sticks
Utah finished the regular season with a 15-4 overall record and a 5-1 regular-season conference mark … Utah led all women's sports in regular season home attendance in 2018, averaging 15,139 fans a meet. It is the eighth all-women's sports attendance title for Utah (2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) and its sixth straight. Utah has won 34 gymnastics attendance crowns… Sophomore MyKayla Skinner is one of just three gymnasts to earn 2018 NACGC regular season All-America honors on all four events and the all-around (along with Oklahoma's Maggie Nichols and LSU's Myia Hambrick) … Eighth-year Auburn head coach Jeff Graba was a Ute assistant from 2006-10. Former Utah All-American Corrie Lothrop (2011-15) is an Auburn graduate assistant coach.
 Honors Club
Sophomore MyKayla Skinnerand junior MaKenna Merrell-Giles were named regular season All-Americans by the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC). Skinner earned a total of five awards with first team honors in the all-around, vault and floor and second-team honors on bars and beam. Merrell-Giles picked up three first-team All-America awards in the all-around, vault and floor. Skinner is now a 13-time All-American, having earned eight awards (4 NCAA, 4 NACGC regular season) as a freshman in 2017, while Merrell-Giles is now a six-time All-American (3 NCAA, 3 NACGC) … Nine Utes were named to the 2018 Pac-12 Gymnastics All-Academic team, including first-team members Skinner, Maddie Stover and Shannon McNatt, and second-team selection Missy Reinstadtler. Five Utes made honorable mention all-academic (see sidebar on page 3 for a complete list).
 Winner Skinner
Utah sophomore All-American MyKayla Skinner, who enters the NCAA postseason as the nation's No. 2 ranked all-arounder, won the all-around and floor titles at the Pac-12 Championship, tying for first place on both. The sophomore is one of just two Pac-12 gymnasts since the championship began back in 1987 to win back-to-back Pac-12 all-around titles and the only one to do it in her first two seasons. She has also won two Pac-12 floor tiles (2017-18) and one vault championship (2017). Skinner owns every Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week record with the most Pac-12 Freshman of the Week (6) and Gymnast of the Week (7) awards in a season and most Gymnast of the Week (12) awards in a career. Her 20 career all-around victories in just two seasons is already second in school history and she has 73 total individual titles, including 30 this year (eight all-around).
