SALT LAKE CITYÂ - USA Softball announced that former Ute and current assistant coach
Hannah Flippen has earned a spot on the Women's National Team for the Japan Cup, November 2-4.
Â
Flippen represented the United States at the International Cup in July and helped the US Blue team to a third-place finish. She paced the squad in hits (14), doubles (4), homers (5), extra base hits (10), runs scored (12), runs driven in (20) and slugging (1.522) while racking up a .609 batting average. Â
Utah's all-time leader in runs, hits and batting average, Flippen concluded a stellar career (2014-17) by becoming the first three-time All-American in program history, as well as the first four-time All-Pac-12 honoree. She was the first Ute named Pac-12 Softball Player of the Year in consecutive seasons and the first person in the history of the conference to win that award, along with Defensive Player of the Year honors, in the same campaign.
Â
After graduating in the spring of '17 with a 3.59 GPA (psychology), Flippen received a postgraduate scholarship from the Pac-12 to pursue her master's degree at Utah. A three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection, she became Utah's first two-time Academic All-American and was a finalist for the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year award after taking part in a number of social initiatives at Utah.
Â
Flippen spends her "off-season" playing for ScrapYard Dawgs, which she led to a National Pro Fastpitch title.
