STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Guro Jordheim won the women's 5-km freestyle as a strong Nordic day lifted the Utah ski team to the team lead at the Colorado Invitational.
Logan Diekmann led the men with his first career podium finish.
Jordheim, last year's RMISA women's Nordic Athlete of the Year, picked up where she left off last year with her eighth career win.
Karianne Moe tied her best career finish with a seventh-place run.
Mariah Bredal placed ninth for her ninth career top-10 finish.
Leah Lange finished 15
th while
Julia Richter was 19
th in her Utah debut.
Diekmann finished a career-best third in the men's 10-km race. In their Utah debuts,
Ola Jordheim finished fifth while
Maximilian Bie placed 12
th.
Jacob Engström finished 26
th while
Noel Keeffe placed 31
st in his first race.
The Utes lead Denver by 10 points, 410 to 400. Colorado is third with 330.5 points with Alaska Anchorage fourth (305) and Montana State fifth (285).
The Colorado Invitational continues on Sunday, Jan. 13, with the women's and men's 10-km classic races.
