SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah women's track and field team returns to action this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18-19, after the long winter break at the Ed Jacoby Invitational hosted by Boise State University. The two-day meet will take place at the Jacksons Indoor Facility in Nampa, Idaho with competition slated to begin on Friday at 2:30 p.m. (MST) and Saturday at 9:00 a.m. (MST). Â
Â
"We had a lot of our kids come out of winter break in great shape and the first couple weeks of practice have been terrific," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "We've been able to get our work in and we are really excited for everyone across the board to get started again."Â
Â

Â
Utah will begin the weekend on Friday by entering three squads to compete in the 4,000-meter DMR and will start the day on Saturday with freshman Broadhead competing in the women's shot-put. Â
Â
"A lot of our gals are going to run in what you would call off events, or events that are maybe not their premier event so to speak, and this meet allows us to run some events we normally don't run," coach Kepler explained. "One of the reasons we like to go to this meet is to run some off events. Run up a distance or down a distance and kind of find out where our training is at, where we are strong, or where we are lacking and those kinds of things."Â
Â
The Utes look to get the ball rolling again and start their first meet of the new year with how they left off. Last time out the Utes competed at the Weber State Winter Open where three Utah athletes recorded new personal bests in the 55-meter dash including true freshman
Taylor Watson who captured a new school record in the 55-meter event. Watson recorded a school record time of 7.16 while senior Helm-Wheelock and freshman Lebar also recorded new personal best times that placed them fourth and fifth all-time at Utah, respectively.Â
Â
Utah ran its largest number of competitors in the mile race where 10 of the 14 athletes competing finished inside the top-15.  Junior
Sarah Feeny competed unattached in the mile race where she ultimately captured the event title.Â
Â
The lone competitor in the field events was senior
Eliza Hansen. Hansen competed in the high jump where she recorded a new personal-best height of 1.68m (5'6").  Â
