Ute Gymnasts Earn Pac-12 Weekly Honors

MyKayla Skinner, Cristal Isa are honored
SAN FRANCISCO—Utah's MyKayla Skinner was named the Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week and Cristal Isa is the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week after their efforts in Utah's season-opening win over Penn State. Skinner won the vault, bars, floor and all-around, while Isa placed second on bars in her college debut.

Skinner's 9.95 scores on bars and floor tied for No. 1 in the nation and her 9.95 on vault is tied for fourth. Skinner's 39.700 all-around score led the Pac-12 and ranks second nationally. Isa, a two-time Junior Olympic national champion on bars, scored a 9.925 on her specialty to tie for the third-best score in the country. She also competed on vault, scoring a 9.825.

Skinner, who holds the Pac-12 record for career Gymnast of the Week awards, now has 13. It marks the third straight year that the junior has won Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week honors on opening week. With the four wins against PSU, Skinner now has 81 victories in her career.

Utah earned the third-best team score in the country in its 197.175-194.450 win over the Nittany Lions. It was also the third-best opening week score in school history.
