CORVALLIS, Ore. – The University of Utah men's golf program finished close to two rounds today at the Oregon State Invitational before play was suspended due to darkness on the course. The Utes are currently in third place as a team with two players sitting in the top 10.
"Overall not thrilled with our play," head coach
Garrett Clegg said. "Blake and Mitchell were really good for us today. They each have been playing well, unfortunately the other guys didn't have their best day. We have 19 holes to play tomorrow and we are to a number of teams. I am excited to see how we respond to today's performance."
Blake Tomlinson and
Mitchell Schow are both tied for eighth, shooting 2-under par for the day. Tomlinson wrapped up the day with five birdies and two eagles on par five holes while Schow had seven birdies.
Tristan Mandur is sitting in a tie for 21
st overall, shooting 3-over par while
Peyton Hastings, who is playing as an individual, is shooting 5-over and is tied for 29
th.
Javier Barcos and
Jordan Costello round out Utah's competitors for the day, both tying for 50
th after shooting 10-over for the day.
Due to the suspension of play today, scores are not official. The second round will resume at 9 a.m. PT/10 a.m. MT tomorrow. The final round will be a shotgun start immediately following the completion of the final holes of the second round.
