Utah Head Coach
Larry Krystkowiak
On how tonight went…
"I thought we were dialed in, we guarded well, got out in transition, shared the basketball and rebounded. I'm told there were some records broken like margin of victory and some different things which doesn't happen unless you are pretty darn sharp. Shots went in when we were open and I'm not sure there is to many games with a couple guys earning triple doubles and those types of things. It was a pretty productive and high powered win for us and it was done by a number of guys. When the second shift came in and guys had the opportunity the pedal didn't leave the metal. I'm proud of the guys, they respected the game and it was a great team win."
On the effort tonight, especially from the young guys…
"I thought we were really gritty in our first game at Nevada as well. It wasn't without a lot of mistakes but I sense that this is a team that is very connected and they play very hard. It's part of their DNA growing up and it's hard to teach kids how to play hard and I think it's pretty natural for a lot of our guys to be diving on the floor. There is a lot of toughness and grit about our team. There's no doubt about that and it's fun to be a part of."
On the importance of the contributions from his freshman…
"You know we've got about three or four sophomores, a lot of freshmen so we are going to need everybody. One thing I'm sensing the last few weeks is a little bit of consistency with guys understanding how hard this is and hard you need to bring it every day. That's usually one thing that takes a while for young kids to figure out."
UP NEXT
The Utes remain at home for their next game on Friday, Nov. 15, when the Gophers of Minnesota come to town for a 7 p.m. (MT) contest on the Pac-12 Network. Krista Blunk will have the call while Matt Muehlebach serves as the analyst on Meme Night.
