The No. 5 Utah gymnasts (9-2, 5-1 Pac-12) will host No. 9 Michigan (13-2, 9-0 Big Ten) in the final home meet of the season on Saturday, Mar. 2 at 2 p.m. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 1:40 p.m. to honor Ute seniors

Super Seniors
Making their last Huntsman Center appearance this Saturday are four seniors with glittering resumes. The class has a Pac-12 Championship (2017), three NCAA Championship appearances (2016-18) and two Super Six finishes (2017-18) to its credit. In addition, fifth-year senior
Kari Lee was a freshman All-American on the 2015 NCAA runner-up and Ute Pac-12 champion team. Team co-captains
Lee (3) and
MaKenna Merrell-Giles (6) have a combined to win nine All-America awards.
Merrell-Giles is the defending Pac-12 vault and NCAA Regional floor champion, and
Shannon McNatt was the 2017 regional beam champion.
Merrell-Giles (all-around, vault, beam),
Lee (beam) and
Macey Roberts (vault) are currently ranked in the top 25 in the nation. After Saturday, local fans will have one more opportunity to watch the seniors in person at the Pac-12 Gymnastics Championships in West Valley City on Saturday, Mar. 23.

Student-Athletes For A Cause
The student-athlete Crimson Council is hosting a shoe drive in partnership with Soles4Souls at Saturday's gymnastics meet, as well as at the Mar. 9 men's basketball game. Ute junior gymnast
Missy Reinstadtler is directing the Crimson Council's effort to collect 10,000 pairs of gently worn shoes at the two events. Soles4Souls is a non-profit social enterprise that creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world. Founded in 2006, the organization has distributed more than 35 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes in 127 countries.

In the Rankings
Utah slipped one place in the national rankings to No. 5 with this week's move to Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) as the basis. A team's RQS is reached by taking the six best scores of the season, three of which must have come on the road, dropping the high score and averaging the remaining five. The Utes are No. 2 in the nation on vault, No. 4 on floor, No. 5 on bars and No. 9 on beam.
MyKayla Skinner is No. 1 on vault, No. 3 on bars, No. 4 in the all-around, No. 12 on beam and No. 12 on floor.
Kari Lee is No. 13 (tie) on beam,
Macey Roberts is tied for 21st on vault and

Fanfare
The first 5,000 fans in the building will receive a free light up bracelet, courtesy of Smith's. The lights on the bracelets will be synced with the lights in the arena and will be controlled remotely during the team introductions … Doors and the Kid Zone open at 12:30 p.m. The Kid Zone features a face painter, balloon artist, life-size Swoop Bobblehead, poster making station and more.

Saturday's meet features three of the best all-arounders in the country in Utah's
MyKayla Skinner (No. 4) and
MaKenna Merrell-Giles (No. 7), and Michigan's
Natalie Wojcik (No. 5). Vault will be an especially interesting competition with
Skinner the country's top-ranked vaulter,
Wojcik No. 2 and
Merrell-Giles tied for No. 5 …
Skinner's two victories against UCLA last week moved her past former Ute great and NCAA champion Missy Marlowe and into third place in Utah's record book for career wins. Skinner now has 99 career wins. Marlowe had 98 victories from 1989-92 … The 2019 Utes have scored above a 197.000 in all nine meets, setting a school record for consecutive 197.000 scores. The old record was seven … The loss last week to No. 2 UCLA ended the second-longest regular season home win streak in school history at 34, dating back to a 2012 home loss to Nebraska. The school record for consecutive regular season home wins was 170 from 1979-2002 … Utah leads the nation in attendance average (14,967) and has the four biggest gymnastics crowds in the country this year, including three sellouts of 15,558.

Two-time NCAA champion, two-time NCAA all-around runner-up and 18-time All-American
MyKayla Skinner is one of the winningest gymnasts in Utah and Pac-12 history. Skinner holds the Utah record for all-around wins in a season (12 in 2017) and is second in career all-around wins (25, 2017-present). Her 99 total career wins ranks third in program history. Skinner won NCAA titles on floor in 2017 and vault in 2018. The Pac-12 all-around champion as a freshman and sophomore, Skinner owns Pac-12 records for most Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week awards in a season (7) and a career (15), as well as most Pac-12 Freshman of the Week awards (6).
