SAN FRANCISCO—Utah gymnast
Adrienne Randall has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week after winning the floor exercise with a 9.95 and tying for third on beam (9.825) in Utah's 197.075-195.400 win over No. 23 Arizona last Friday.
Randall's beam routine from the No. 5 position helped ensure the Utes didn't have to count a fall earlier in the lineup. Her 9.95 on floor tied Utah's best score on the event this season and came in just her third start on floor. She now has two wins (the other was on beam at Oregon State) to lead the Ute freshmen.
Randall's efforts helped the 5-0 Utes extend their school-record streak of 197-plus scores to start the season to five and kept them as one of two undefeated teams in the Pac-12.
She has hit all eight of her routines this season without a fall.
Randall becomes Utah's third weekly award winner this season. Junior
MyKayla Skinner is a three-time Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week and
Cristal Isa was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Jan. 8.
Randall and the No. 4 Utes host No. 14 California this Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Huntsman Center.
