Women's Tennis Set For Road Matches At Arizona State, Arizona

SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 38 Utah women's tennis team is set to resume Pac-12 play this week at Arizona State on March 22 and Arizona on March 23. The match against the Sun Devils will start at 2:30 p.m. MT on Friday followed by the Saturday afternoon match against the Wildcats at 1 p.m. MT.

Utah's match against Arizona State on Friday will have a live stream with live updates on both matches available on Twitter (@UteWomensTennis) and Instagram (@UtahWomensTennis). Recaps and a full set of results will be available on UtahUtes.com following the completion of both matches.

The Utes enter the weekend 10-3 overall this season and 1-1 in Pac-12 play. Utah jumped six spots in the rankings this week, going from 44th to 38th with seven teams from the Pac-12 ranking in the top-40.

Utah has won six of its last seven matches, including two this past week against Fresno State and in-state rival BYU. The Utes got started on March 12, taking down the Bulldogs on the road 4-1 before clinching its 10th straight win over the Cougars on March 16, 4-3.

The Utes immediately won the doubles point against Fresno State, heading into singles with a one-point advantage. The Bulldogs were able to tie the score with a win on court five, but the Utes won three straight with Madison Tattini closing out the match on court two with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory for the 4-1 team win.

Against BYU, it was the opposite for the Utes as they entered singles play down by a point after doubles. It was Tattini that came up big again, posting the first singles victory for the Utes on the No. 2 court with a 6-3, 6-2 win to tie it 1-1.

The Utes trailed 3-2 heading into the final two matches of the day, coming down to the No. 5 and No. 6 courts. Whitney Hekking tied the score 3-3 with her 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-1 win on court five with Leah Heimuli clinching the win for the Utes on court six with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory to give them the one-point win for the Deseret First Duel.

After Utah's weekend in Arizona they will return home for one match, hosting Oregon on March 31 at 11:30 p.m. MT.
