LUBBOCK, Texas— The No. 44-ranked Utah Utes upset the No. 29-ranked Texas Tech Lady Raiders 4-1 with straight singles victories at the Mcleod Tennis Center Thursday night.

The Utes are now 11-5 on the overall season, 4-2 in Big 12 action and are on a five-match win streak.

DOUBLES
In doubles action, the Lady Raider's got off to a hot start by claiming the doubles point advantage with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3.

At the No. 2 spot, Utah's Emma Kamper and Emmie Moore were tied 4-4 with Texas Tech's Mariia Halhola and Elena Daskalova before Texas Tech clinched the doubles point advantage and ultimately went unfinished.

SINGLES
In singles action, the Utes responded with four straight wins to bring the Utes up 4-1 over the Lady Raiders.

At the No. 4 spot, Utah's Kaila Barksdale downed Texas Tech's Polina Sleptsova 6-0, 6-4 to put the Utes on the board and tie the overall match, 1-1.

Then, Utah's Sara Akid battled against Texas Tech's Kate Dmitrichenko at the No. 2 spot. Akid won her first set 6-4 but dropped her second set 0-6. In the third set, Akid defeated Dmitrichenko 6-3 to give the Utes the 2-1 overall advantage against the Lady Raiders.

On court No. 3, Utah's Emmie Moore gave the Utes a 3-1 overall advantage after beating Texas Tech's Mariia Hlahola 7-6(2), 6-4.

Utah's No. 121-ranked Emma Kamper clinched the overall match for the Utes in a third set comeback at the No. 1 spot. Kamper defeated Texas Tech's Hailey Murphy 6(3)-7, 6-4, 6-3 for the overall win.

The rest of the matches went unfinished.

UP NEXT
The Utes will continue their road trip to Boulder, Colo. to face the Colorado Buffalos on March 21. The Utes will return home to face the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (March 26) and Kansas State Wildcats (March. 28).
