SALT LAKE CITY—The No. 5 ranked Utah gymnasts will take a break from competition this week before their final regular season meet against No. 8 Georgia in Athens, Ga., on Mar. 16. It is just the 12th regular-season bye in the 44-year history of Utah gymnastics and their second in two years.
Utah held steady at No. 5 in the new national rankings with a 197.315 regional qualifying score (RQS). The Utes are currently No. 2 on vault (49.455 RQS), No. 4 on bars (49.385, tie), No. 4 on floor (49.420) and No. 8 on beam (49.245).
MyKayla Skinner is ranked No. 1 nationally on the vault (9.960 RQS) and jumped two places to No. 2 in the latest all-around rankings with her 39.645 RQS. She is also No. 4 on bars (9.940), tied for No. 7 on floor (9.930) and tied for No. 14 on beam (9.885).
Also ranked in the top 10 is
MaKenna Merrell-Giles, who checked in this week at No. 5 on vault (9.920 RQS) and No. 8 in the all-around (39.540). Merrell-Giles is also tied for No. 19 on floor (9.905) and No. 22 on beam (9.870). Other ranked Utes include
Kari Lee on beam (No. 13, 9.890),
Sydney Soloski (tied for No. 19 on floor, 9.905) and
Macey Roberts on vaults (tied for No. 23, 9.875).
Utah's meet at Georgia on Mar. 16 will start at 4 p.m. ET/2 p.m. MT and will be televised on SEC Network Plus, which is available through the ESPN app.
