SALT LAKE CITY – As the 2019 outdoor season is winding down, the Utah track and field team prepares as they will compete in their last two regular season meets while senior transfer
Kolbi Sims will represent the Utes competing at the Pac-12 Multi-Events Championships. Utah will compete at the Weber State Twilight on Wednesday May 1, the Portland Twilight on Friday May 3 and the Pac-12 Multi-Events Championships on Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5.Â

"Another crazy busy weekend of kids competing all over the western U.S., but we are doing what we have to do to put our kids in the best position to be prepared for the Pac-12 meet, to try to continue to push forward some performances and some marks to have a better chance to make it to the NCAA Championships and do what we do to continue the season as long as we can," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "We're super excited and we will kind of finish out the regular season with most of the group and we will get the championship season started with Kolbi in the multi-events this weekend."Â

The Weber State Twilight Meet will be held at the Chick Hislop Track at Stewart Stadium with competition slated to begin at 4:25 pm, the Portland Twilight will be held at Griswold Stadium on the campus of Lewis & Clark College with competition beginning at 3:30 pm (PDT) and the Pac-12 Multi-Events Championships will be held at Drachman Stadium on the campus of the University of Arizona with Sims's first event beginning at 5:00 pm (MST).Â

Utah had strong outings competing at the Drake Relays, Desert Heat Classic and the Robison Invitational last weekend. At the Drake Relays, freshman
Scarlet Dale got the ball rolling for the Utes as she captured the 1,500-meter unseeded event title in a new PR time of 4:28.29. In the DMR, the Utah 'A' team battled against Oklahoma State and just got legged out to earn second-place. Running for Utah 'A' was
Sarah Newton,
Sadie Wassum,
Brooke Manson and
Sarah Feeny, who ran the fastest 1,600 split of the field to secure the second-place finish.
Poppy Tank,
Scarlet Dale,
Bella Williams and
Trina Moreno competed in the 4x1600-meter relay for the Utes as they earned a third-place finish with a time of 19:40.46.Â

At the Robison Invitational in Provo,
Mesa Weidle posted the highest finish for the Utes as she earned sixth-place in the 800-meter race.
Kayla Rees recorded the third-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles finishing with a time of 1:03.02 while
Ashley Licata set a huge new PR in the mile race finishing in a time of 5:28.90. This tops her previous record by 11 seconds.Â

Lauren O'Banion all recorded new personal-bests in the 400-meter race. Martin finished in 12th in a time of 55.54, James earned 14th in a time of 55.81 and O'Banion crossed in 19th with a time of 56.59. O'Banion also competed in the 200-meter race where she set another PR in a time of 25.52.Â

Skyler Blair competed in the 400-meter hurdles where she finished with a new PR time of 59.72 and moved herself into fifth-place all-time at Utah.
Kolbi Sims had a busy evening competing in three different events for the Utes, the 100-meter hurdles, long jump and javelin throw. Sims had her best performance in the 100-meter hurdles where she finished in a season-best time of 14.41 and moved herself into ninth-place all-time at Utah.Â

Eliza Hansen earned a new PR in the high jump with a jumping height of 5'7.75" to capture a fourth-place finish. Wrapping up the night in the desert was the 4x400-meter relay team as they finished in fourth place in season best time of 3:42.67.Â
