Dunn Goes 3-5 Scoring One Run
SEATTLE, Wash. – Utah baseball came up short in the series finale against the Washington Huskies dropping the game 4-2 at Husky Ballpark in Seattle, Washington.
Utah struck first to take a 1-0 lead, but Washington scored four straight to build a lead that they wouldn't give away to complete the series sweep.
Oliver Dunn went 3-5 scoring one run to lead the Utes in the game.
In the third with the game scoreless, Dunn singled with a bunt to second. After moving to second after Erick Migueles was hit by a pitch, Shea Kramer came up with a single to score Dunn from second and give Utah an early lead.
The Huskies came right back and scored two runs in the bottom half of the third on two hits.
Washington added runs in the sixth and eighth inning to build a 4-1 lead going into the ninth.
Utah tried to rally in the ninth, scoring a run on a Migueles single, but Washington closed out the series not allowing Utah to score any more.
Dustyn Schramm got the start and allowed two unearned runs on four hits in 5.0 innings. Zac McCleve came in from the bullpen to pitch the remaining 3.0 innings allowing two runs on three hits.
This was the last road series for Utah this season and will now look forward to seven straight home games. They will begin that stretch by hosting BYU on Tuesday, May 14 at 6 p.m. at Smith's Ballpark.
