ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Utah men's golf team is sitting in sixth place after two rounds at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate with the third and final round being played tomorrow at the UNM Championship course.
"I felt like we had a solid opening 18 holes," head coach
Garrett Clegg said. "We started the first few holes slow, but then came back strong to finish the round. Overall we are only 15 strokes back going into tomorrow's round, but we need to play par fives better and play the more difficult holes better than we played them today to move up the leader board."
Junior
Tristan Mandur currently leads the Utes shooting 4-under par on the day (140). Mandur's excellent play has placed him in a tie for sixth among the field.
"Tristan was really good today," Clegg said. "He bogeyed the first two holes and then was great after that. He hit the ball really well and was our most steady performer."
Senior
Mitchell Schow continued his strong start to the season shooting even par (144) through the opening rounds and is currently tied for 21
st. Fellow senior
Jordan Costello finished the day tied for 33
rd after carding 2-over par (146) and will look to build off the momentum he established in the closing holes of round two.
Rounding out the Utes was true freshman
