No. 21 Utah Softball opens Pac-12 play at No. 2 Washington this weekend. The road trip starts with a Thursday night contest at Seattle

QUICK HITS
- In the first RPI announcement of the season, Utah ranks No. 25. It will play 17 games against nine teams ranked in the Top 25 this season

-BreOnna Castaneda had a strong weekend at the Mizuno Tournament in Oklahoma. She hit .667 (8-for-12) and led the team with seven RBI. She had a pair of doubles against the No. 6 Sooners and added a pair of homers over the four games.

- Alyssa Barrera had the highest batting average of any player at the Mary Nutter Classic and ranked second in on-base percentage. Barrera currently ranks 10th in batting (.421), 11th in OBP (.492) and 18th in slugging (.649).

- Ellessa Bonstrom ranked second at the Mary Nutter Classic in on-base percentage and sixth in walks. Among Pac-12 players, she ranks fourth in OBP (.523), sixth in home runs (5) and seventh in slugging (.740).

- Sydney Sandez won three games at the Mary Nutter Classic and sits fourth nationally with 11 victories on the season.

- Freshman Madi Jacobus has burst on the scene and ranks third in the Pac-12 with seven doubles and leads the Utes with 17 RBI

- After missing last season with injury Haley Denning has impressed as a freshman, leading the Pac-12 with 12 stolen bases and ranking seventh with 19 runs scored

- Utah has also used a pair of freshmen pitchers along with Sandez. Mary Beth Feldman impressed in her first collegiate start, topping last year's National Freshman of the Year Danielle Williams of Northwestern and Halle Morris has made eight relief appearances and notched two saves

SERIES HISTORY WITH UW
Utah is 5-17 against the Huskies in Pac-12 games since joining the conference, 2-9 in Seattle, and the teams played each other here in the 2017 NCAA Super Regionals. Washington has been in the Top 20 every season and in the Top 10 seven times.

Utah salvaged a game last season as Barrera smashed a grand slam and Utah erased a 4-0 deficit to win 5-4 against the No. 3 Huskies. It was one of only two losses last year for Gabbie Plain and Barrera has a career .351 average vs. UW

MIZUNO TOURNAMENT RECAP
The Utes split four games in Oklahoma with a pair of wins over Mercer and losses to the No. 6 Sooners and No. 11 Cowgirls.

Alyssa Barrera hit Utah's first walk-off homer in three years when she delivered a two-run shot in the opener vs. the Bears. The Utes then hit five home runs en route to a season-high 13 runs in their second game against Mercer.
