SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah golf head coach
Garrett Clegg announced the addition of transfer Sam Tidd to the 2020-21 roster today with Tidd being eligible immediately.
"We are thrilled to have Sam join our golf program this fall," Clegg said. "He is a fantastic player from Meridian, Idaho that is transferring to the U. from the University of Oklahoma. He was a highly accomplished junior golfer and has not broken out yet in college. We anticipate that he will be a fantastic addition to our team that we expect to make a positive impact and travel with the team."
Tidd will join the Utes as a redshirt freshman and will also receive an extra year due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, giving the Meridian, Idaho, native four years of eligibility remaining.
"I couldn't be more excited to get to Utah and help the team out in every way that I can," Tidd said. "Our team has a lot of potential and I am looking forward to seeing what we can do this season."
Tidd redshirted his true freshman season at OU in 2018-19 before the pandemic shortened everyone's season in 2019-20. He signed with OU out of Rocky Mountain High School in Boise where he was a 2018 USGA Fourball semifinalist and the 5A individual state champion in 2017.
He has four AJGA top-10 finishes, was the runner-up at the 2015 AJGA Hale Irwin and finished third at the 2015 Nike Junior All-Star Invitational. Tidd has also qualified for the Junior PGA Championship and Western Junior Championship twice.
