SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Nordic team got their season going at Soldier Hollow on Sunday, January 17.

Julia Richter got second and
Sydney Palmer-Leger got third for an all-Utah podium. Right behind them, was
Mariah Bredal came in fourth.
"It feels really good to start at home," McCabe said. "It's always fun racing here and we've done a lot of training on this track for this season, so I feel like we're all well prepared."
McCabe had a great race winning by 24 seconds.
"It felt good," McCabe said. "It was definitely tough, but I got the pacing right this time. I've kind of struggled with that racing here, so it was nice to have that figured out today because I've raced here quite a bit in the past. It feels really great to start the season like this and I'm excited for more."
Abby Jarzin got seventh and
Karianne Moe got 10
th to round out the top 10.
The men raced a 10K and also had four guys in the top 10 led by
Samuel Hendry, who got sixth.
"Just classic Soldier Hollow conditions today," Hendry said. "Super sunny, great tracks and great conditions so it's awesome to be out here. It was definitely tough today, it's always hard up here at altitude. This is always a tough course. I didn't feel my best today, and I don't think the rest of the team felt super awesome either, but at the end of the day we were right in there just a few seconds off the top position. Not the best start to our season, but a long ways to go."
Right behind Hendry was
Ola Jordheim in seventh,
Bjørn Riksaasen in eighth and
Luke Jager in ninth.
Noel Keeffe was right behind them in 16
th.
Utah finished the day in first in points with 186 points. Tomorrow, the Utes will race in the 15/20K Classic.
"I think we have a good idea of what the tracks are like and a good idea of where everyone else is at too," Hendry said. "For the mass start tomorrow, we'll have a good idea of who is good shape right now and skiing well."
