PARK CITY – The Utah Nordic team was back at Soldier Hollow on Monday competing in its portion of the RMISA Invitational hosted by Westminster. They extended Utah's lead in the standings to 109 points.
The Utes came into to the day leading by 49.5 points after the alpine team had some success racing at Snowbird.
The Nordic team was back to full strength after having several skiers racing over in Europe recently.
In the men's 10K Classic, the Utes had four racers in the top 9 led by
Samuel Hendry, who came in second. It was the third time this season he has finished second in a race.
"I am so excited to be back with the team," Hendry said. "I missed racing with this group. The race today was tough, and I'm still a little jet lagged, but happy to be back at. I expect things to get better and better over the next week!"
Bjørn Riksaasen had another good day of racing as well coming in fourth.
Luke Jager was right behind him finishing in sixth.
"It was an awesome race day, and condition wise, I don't think we could have had any better," Riksaasen said. "Feeling wise, I did not have the best day, but managed to pull together a pretty good race that I am happy about either way. I have been focusing on staying consistent through the season, and I really feel like I showed that today as well. Our team is very strong this year and it is such an inspiration to be part of it."
The fourth member of the team to finish in the top-10 was
Ola Jordheim, who came in ninth.
Noel Keeffe wasn't far behind coming in 16
th.
On the women's side,
Novie McCabe once again led the Utes in the 5K Classic, winning the race and claiming 40 points for Utah.
Julia Richter came in right after McCabe to finish in second. Their other teammates weren't far behind as
Sydney Palmer-Leger came in fourth and
Mariah Bredal finished in fifth giving Utah four of the top five skiers.
Abby Jarzin finished in 16

Similar to Hendry and Jager, McCabe and Palmer-Leger were both in Europe and got back early last week. Despite feeling a little jet lag, they all rose to the occasion to race with their teammates.
"It felt great to be back racing with my teammates," McCabe said. "Being away for a bit reminded me of how amazing this team is and I have really missed racing and training with everyone."
The team will race again on Tuesday, February 23 in the 15/20K Freestyle to finish off the RMISA Invitational.
