SAN FRANCISCO – University of Utah gymnast
Cristal Isa picked up her second Pac-12 Specialist of the Week honor and third weekly award this season on Tuesday afternoon. Isa's perfect score on beam and another stellar effort on bars guided Utah to its first 198 of the season against Oregon State last Friday.
Isa recorded the first Perfect 10 of her career against the Beavers with the flawless routine coming on the balance beam. Isa's career-best 10.0 led a beam rotation that matched a season-high 49.725 as a group, which is the nation's best score on beam this season. Isa, who posted Utah's second 10.0 on beam this season and third overall, won her third beam title of the year and now has five wins this season, which ranks second on the team.
The Ute senior also added a 9.875 on bars to have both of her scores counted toward the season-high 198.000 for Utah. Isa's contributions led the Red Rocks in becoming just the fourth team this season to reach the 198-mark. Following the meet against Oregon State, Isa was ranked No. 17 on bars. Including last night's meet against Washington, she is now ranked No. 16 on bars and No. 6 on beam with the shift to NQS coming into effect.
