SAN FRANCISCO –
Branden Carlson of the Utah men's basketball team was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week the league announced after averaging 23.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks over weekend at the Charleston Classic.

This marks the second Pac-12 Player of the Week for Carlson in his career and the third overall weekly honor ever after garnering player of the week honors last season and a freshman of the week award as well.

The South Jordan native opened the tournament with a career-high 31 points with 4 rebounds and 5 blocks on 12-of-20 shooting – including 4-for-7 from beyond the arc. Carlson's performance helped propel the Utes past Wake Forest 77-70 and advance to the semifinals of the tournament.

He followed up with 17 points against #6/6 Houston less than 24 hours later while pulling down 8 rebounds with a pair of steals. Carlson closed out the tournament scoring a game-high 22 points with 8 rebounds against a gritty St. John's team in the third-place game.

At the end of the tournament, Carlson was named to the Charleston Classic All-Tournament team after this 23.3 points per game led all players in the tournament. His 6.67 boards per game was tied for seventh-most at the Charleston Classic while his .458 shooting clip was eight-best.
