Utah at No. 15 Softball America poll, inside top 20 in two others
SALT LAKE CITY – The climb up the national rankings continues for the University of Utah softball team, as they moved up in all four polls, reaching as high as No. 15 in the Softball America Top 25.
The Utes jumped up four spots in the Softball America rankings to claim their highest placement in a national poll since they finished the 2017 campaign in 14th. Utah improved their position in the D1Softball.com Top 25 by five spots to reach No. 17 and they climbed four spots in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll to 18th. Utah is also now the No. 22 team in the NFCA/USA today poll after landing in 25th a week earlier.
This rise comes after the Utes put together a 5-0 week that included a sweep of No. 5 Stanford, the highest-ranked team Utah has ever swept in series. The Utes also own second-place in the Pac-12, trailing only No. 2 UCLA.
The Utes will be now be tasked with taking on another top 10 opponent, as they'll head to Seattle for a three-game series against No. 9 Washington that will begin with a 7 p.m. PT matchup on Friday.
