SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah gymnastics program welcomed rising sophomore Ashley Glynn, who transferred to the Red Rocks from Temple University.
Â
"Ashley's work ethic and even-keeled demeanor, along with her four-event experience at Temple will bode well for making lineups at Utah," said head coach Tom Farden. "Obviously her signature event is vault, but we feel that Ashley is strong on all four events and will be an immediate contender on every event. We are very excited to have her as a Red Rock!"
Â
Glynn led the Owls' vault lineup with the highest National Qualifying Score on the event as a true freshman in 2023. She competed in the all-around at eight competitions for Temple and was a starter on vault all 13 competitions. Glynn recorded a 9.85 NQS on vault with her season best of a 9.875 coming at the Maryland Five meet, as well as the EAGL Championships.
Â
The Hockessin, Del., native posted a season-high 39.250 in the all-around at the Maryland Five, which is the seventh-best all-around score in program history. She also tallied a season-high 9.875 on bars in a tri-meet at LIU and ended the season with a 9.820 NQS on bars. Consistent on floor as well, Glynn scored a 9.80 or better on floor in 6-of-8 routines last season.
Â
Glynn was named Temple's Rookie of the Year, while she was also awarded the athletic department's Female Sport Newcomer of the Year honor. Academically, Glynn earned a spot on the EAGL All-Scholastic Team in her first year as an Owl.
Â
The daughter of Tom and Donna Glynn trained at First State Gymnastics and Stallone Gymnastics during her club career. She was a three-time Level 10 National Championships competitor, a five-time Region 7 champion, and 13-time state champion. In her final Region 7 Championship, Glynn won the all-around and beam, while placing second on bars, third on vault, and fourth on floor. At the 2022 Delaware State Meet, Glynn won the all-around, beam, and floor titles.
Â
With the addition of Glynn, the Red Rocks now have five newcomers set to join the team for the 2024 season. Glynn enters her second season as a collegiate gymnast, while she will be joined by incoming freshmen Elizabeth Gantner, Olivia Kennedy, Camie Winger, and Ella Zirbes. Â
