MATCH WEEK
Utah Volleyball wraps up non-conference play this week as it faces a pair of in-state opponents. First, the Utes will make the quick trip to Provo to face No. 12-ranked BYU at Smith Fieldhouse this Wednesday, Sept. 13. The Utes and Cougars will take the floor at 7 p.m. MT on ESPN+.

Utah returns to the Huntsman Center on Friday, Sept. 15, when it hosts Weber State to end non-conference play. The Utes and Wildcats will play at 7 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Insider. The match is a Red Out and fans are encouraged to wear red. The match will also be Alumni Night with a special recognition at match break for the 2001 Sweet 16 team. Â

Allie Olsen is coming off a season where she recorded a .363 hitting percentage, which ranked as the sixth-best percentage in a single season in program history. Olsen is off to a hot start for her senior season as she has hit above .500 in five of the eight matches so far. Olsen is coming off the Utah Classic where she earned All-Tournament Team honors after hitting at a blazing .419 clip through three matches. Olsen recorded a season-high .692 hitting percentage against Tennessee State from nine kills and no errors, while hitting .538 against San Francisco. Earlier in the week, Olsen recorded a career-high 12 kills on Tuesday at Portland State where she hit .556 to help the team, while the match before she recorded nine kills on .533 hitting. The senior from Great Falls, Mont., is hitting .398 to start the 2023 season.

RAMIREZ RUNNING THE BACK ROW
Starting libero
Vanessa Ramirez is leading the Utah defense once again as she has done the previous three seasons. She is fourth in the Pac-12 with 3.93 digs per set and has recorded double-digit digs in all but one match this season. Ramirez tallied 22 digs against NC State for her first match of 20-plus digs this season and her 10
th overall. She has now posted 68 matches with double-digit digs as Utah's starting libero. Ramirez is coming off a season that saw her lead the team in digs 27 of the 31 matches, while she finished third in the Pac-12 with 4.04 digs per set. She has led the team in digs in all but one match this season so far.

GIBBY GETTING HER GROOVE
Freshman
Kamryn Gibadlo is finding her rhythm as her first collegiate season continues and was named to the Utah Classic All-Tournament Team after a stellar weekend. Gibadlo averaged a team-best 3.45 kills per set on .342 hitting over the three matches. The Cave Creek, Ariz., native has recorded double-digit kills in six consecutive matches, which includes all three at the Utah Classic. She posted a career high 17 kills against UC Santa Barbara and hit a career-best .688 against San Francisco with 11 kills and no errors. She has led the team in kills in half of the matches this season.
UP NEXT
Utah begins Pac-12 play with a trip to Colorado next Thursday, Sept. 21. First serve for the Utes and Buffs will be at 7 p.m. MT with the match televised on Pac-12 Mountain. Utah returns home that weekend to host the California Golden Bears on Sunday, Sept. 24. The conference home opener is set for 12 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Mountain as well.

SCOUTING BYU
BYU heads into the week sitting on an 8-1 overall record, which includes a four-set win over fifth-ranked Pitt. The Cougars are coming off their first loss of the season to No. 13 Washington State on the road. BYU is fifth in the Big 12 and 21
st in the nation with 2.78 blocks per set, while ranking 63
rd in the nation with a .248 hitting percentage. Erin Livingston is fourth in the conference with 3.88 kills per set to lead the Cougar offense and Mia Lee leads the team with 1.28 blocks per set.

SCOUTING WEBER STATE
Weber State is set to face Utah Valley prior to the matchup against the Utes and begins the week with a 6-3 record. The Wildcats have earned notable wins against UNLV and Tulane, while dropping close matches to Saint Mary's and Utah State. The Wildcats rank first in the Big Sky and 35
th in the nation with 2.63 blocks per set, while also ranking second in the conference and 56
th in the nation with 1.94 aces per set. Saane Katoa leads the Big Sky and in 13
th in the country with 1.52 blocks per set to lead the team. Dani Richins leads the squad with 3.41 kills per set and Brielle Rueckert leads the conference with a .373 hitting percentage.

SETTING THE STANDARD
Sophomore setter
Viktoria Wahlgren has earned the start in every match this season and ranks 50
th in the nation with 10.07 assists per set. Wahlgren earned her first career double-double last weekend against UC Santa Barbara as she posted 44 assists and a career high 15 digs. Also in the last week, Wahlgren recorded a career-best 46 assists and career-high three aces at Portland State. She has guided the Ute offense to a sixth overall ranking in the Pac-12 with 12.31 assists per set as a team, which is 61
st in the nation. Most recently, Wahlgren guided Utah to a season high hitting percentage against San Francisco after the Utes combined for a .391 hitting percentage.
