PARK CITY, Utah – In one of, if not the, closest-scored RMISA meets in recent memory, the Utah Ski Team finished atop the standings of the Westminster Invitational as teams wrapped up the meet on Friday with giant slalom at the Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center at the Utah Olympic Park.
Utah tallied 579 points over the four alpine and Nordic days, helped in part by a meet-leading 353 Nordic points. Denver finished second in the meet standings with 557 points, and Montana State (536), Colorado (525) and Alaska Anchorage (511) rounded out the top five. It left the top-five spaced by just 68 points.
Making his giant slalom debut with the Utes,
Sindre Myklebust led the men's side with a sixth-place finish (2:12.12) with
Mikkel Solbakken (2:12.44) in the top-nine.
Gustav Vøllo was the final scorer in the men's race for Utah, finishing 12
th (2:12.67).
"It was a little rough today," Myklebust said. "But it's been really cool to be on this hill this week. It's an awesome place; props to all those who made it possible to ski here. For me personally, it's been a little bit of a rough start, but you need some time to adjust. It's all about keeping on working and trying your best. As for the team, I couldn't be happier. Everyone is doing their absolute best with some great results this week. We've been off to a good start and just have to keep it rolling."
Solbakken's first run time of 1:05.61 was second-best in the field, while
Oliver Parazette's day included a top-five opener. He finished 15

Utah was a little shorthanded on the women's side for Thursday's race, with just two Utes finishing.
Kaja Norbye was 10
