LOS ANGELES –
Julia Jimenez maintained her recent hot hitting by smacking her first home run of 2024, but the University of Utah softball team was defeated by the No. 13 UCLA Bruins on Sunday by a score of 12-1 in Pac-12 Conference action at Easton Stadium in Los Angeles.
The Utes' 2024 ledger now has them at 14-9 and 0-3 in conference, while the Bruins are 14-6 and 3-0 in Pac-12 competition.
Jimenez struck the first blow of the day in the top of the second, sending a rocket over the fence in right-center for a 1-0 lead, but it would be a short-lived advantage. The Bruins answered with seven runs in their half of the second, topped off by a Maya Brady grand slam.
UCLA added four runs to their lead in the third and one more in the fourth before concluding the afternoon with a scoreless fifth.
