MATCH WEEK
Utah Volleyball is set to begin the 2024 season this weekend hosting the annual Utah Classic. The Utes are set for a season opener against UTEP this Friday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m. MT in Jon M. Huntsman Center. The program will return for a second match in three days, taking on Utah State at 5 p.m. MT on Saturday. Closing the weekend, the Utes will welcome in Green Bay on Sunday, for a 12:30 p.m. MT showdown with the Phoenix. All three matches will be
available to be viewed on ESPN+ throughout the weekend with Jacob Suomi and Stevie Shaughnessey on the call.

• Head Coach
Beth Launiere enters her 35th season at the helm of the program. Utah Volleyball's winningest head coach heads into the fall season with a       649-419 career record.

• The Utes welcome newcomers

• Beginning the season with the Utah Classic marks the fourth time since 2018 that Utah has opened its season on its home court.Â
• This season, Utah will meet six new opponents including Loyola University, Northeastern, UAlbany, Coppin State, Baylor and West Virginia.
NON-CONFERENCE NOTES
Utah will continue its home slate next weekend with a pair of non-conference matches on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 5 and 6. The Utes will host former Pac-12 foe, California, on Thursday night at 7 p.m. MT. Bringing the opening homestand to a close on Friday at 7 p.m. MT, the Utes host #8 Purdue. Hitting the road, Utah will travel to Chicago for three matches in the Windy City, taking on Loyola University back-to-back days on Sept. 13-14, before closing out the weekend against Northeastern University on Sunday, Sept. 15. The Utes will continue their road test, bringing its non-conference schedule to a close with a trip to Wyoming for three matches.Â
FOR THE FANS
2024 Utah Volleyball season posters and magnets will be available for fans at each of matches throughout the Utah Classic. Kids will be able to receive a Utah water bottle and stickers ahead of the Utah State match on Saturday, Aug. 31.
RETURNING ROLES
• Utah is backed by veteran leadership heading into the 2024 campaign with eight seniors,
Kamry Bailey,
Grace Hammond,
Lauren Jardine, and three fifth-year returners,
Allie Olsen,
Vanessa Ramirez and
Amelia Van Der Werff, and graduate senior,
Rianne Vos.
• The Utes return 95% of their offense from a season ago, with kill leaders
Lauren Jardine (295),
Kamryn Gibadlo (284),
Emrie Satuala (216), and
Allie Olsen (216) each returning.
• Preseason All-Big 12 selection,
Lauren Jardine, closed out the 2023 season averaging 3.01 kills per set, posting double-digit kills in 12 matches.
•
Allie Olsen has been one of the most efficient attackers for Utah, hitting .300 or better in 20 of 30 matches in 2023.
•
Kamryn Gibadlo earned Pac-12 All-Freshman Team honors a year ago, finishing second on the team in kills (284) and kills per set (2.61).
•
Vanessa Ramirez has worked her way up to fourth in career digs in Utah history with 1,446.
• Ramirez finished the 2023 season ranked third in the Pac-12 with 4.04 digs per set. She owns both the 6th (461/2022) and 10th (416/2023) spot in the Utah records for single-season digs.
• Utah returns a strong defensive presence with
Emrie Satuala posting 112 blocks in 2023.
Allie Olsen recorded 87 blocks and
Amelia Van Der Werff added 44.

NEW ON THE BLOCK
• Utah welcomes four new faces to the lineup this season, with the addition of transfers
Claranne Fechter and
Grace Moss. The Utes also add two new freshmen,
Isabelle Marco and
Levani Key-Powell to the rotation.

Claranne Fechter comes to Utah from Campbell University where she was the 2022 Big South Defensive Player of the Year. Fechter earned multiple all-conference honors, during her time with the Camels. She collected Libero of the Week honors nine times, while at Campbell.Â

Grace Moss joins the Ute lineup from Cal State Bakersfield. After one season with the Roadrunners, Moss was named a team captain and became the all-time freshman digs record holder at CSUB.
•
Levani Key-Powell and
Isabelle Marco will make their collegiate debut with the Utes this season.
UP NEXT
Utah Volleyball will return to the Huntsman Center to close out its non-conference homestand against California and Purdue. The Utes will take on former Pac-12 foe California on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. MT. Returning to action on Friday, Sept. 6, Utah will take on #8 Purdue at 7 p.m. MT. Both matches will be available on ESPN+.
