SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women's tennis picked up an impressive 4-2 win over Memphis Tuesday afternoon. Utah is now 5-2 overall on the season.

DOUBLES
Utah started the match off on a high note by claiming the doubles point. The Tigers started doubles off by capturing a win at the No. 3 spot. Ute duo Emma Kamper and Hayley Roberts then downed Memphis' Sofia Mykahilets and Leonie Moeller 7-5.

The doubles point advantage came down to the No. 1 court where Utah's Sara Akid and Emma Valletta battled in a tie break. The Utah duo downed Emily Meyer and Alyssa Richter 7-6 (6) to give Utah the edge going into singles play.

SINGLES
Memphis started singles off with wins on the No. 6 court. Utah was able to answer on the No. 1 court where Emma Kamper defeated Memphis' Leonie Moeller 6-3, 6-3. Emma Valletta was next to finish for Utah getting a 6-1, 7-6 (5) win over the Tigers' Alyssa Richter at the No. 4 court.

Utah had a 3-1 lead overall in the match when Memphis claimed a win on the No. 2 court.

Kaila Barksdale clinched the victory for Utah when she defeated Emily Meyer 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 on the No. 3 court.

UP NEXT
The Utes will have four consecutive road matches starting with a trip to San Diego to take on San Diego State on Feb. 14 and UC San Diego on Feb. 16. The Utes will then start Big 12 play with a trip to Arizona to take on Arizona State on Feb. 27 and Arizona on March 1. Utah will return home to host Texas Tech on March 6 and Colorado on March 8.
