SAN DIEGO, Calif. -The University of Utah women's tennis team fell 4-1 to the San Diego State Aztecs on Friday afternoon, moving their record to 5-3 following the match.
Samantha Horwood and Dylan Lolofie gave the Utes a strong start in doubles and claimed a 6-0 victory over Zoe Olmos and Jo-Yee Chan. However, San Diego State claimed wins on the first and second courts, which secured the doubles point in their favor.Â
In singles, Kaila Barksdale claimed a 6-3, 6-3 victory on the No. 2 court against Chan, but the Aztecs grabbed wins on the No. 4 and No. 6 court. The match was ultimately clinched by SDSU on court No. 3.
Emma Kamper was leading in her second set, while Hayley Roberts battled in the third at the time the match was decided, with both contests being left unfinished.Â
NEXT UP The Utes will next take on UC San Diego Feb. 16 before beginning conference play in Arizona, where they will take on Arizona State on Feb. 27 and Arizona on Mar. 1.Â
