THE UTES
Utah women's tennis program competes this season with a roster featuring a core group of returning players blended with new talent. Returning to the team are sophomores Sara Akid and
Emma Kamper, junior
Kaila Barksdale, and senior
Samantha Horwood, all of whom contributed significantly during the 2024 season. Joining the squad this season are two transfers in
Dylan Lolofie, a Salt Lake City native from Weber State, and
Emma Valletta from Ravena, Italy, previously at VCU. This spring, the team additionally welcomed freshman
Hayley Roberts from Bradenton, Florida.
LAST TIME OUT
The Utah women's tennis team fell in a tightly contested 4-3 match against UC San Diego on Feb. 16, 2025, moving to 5-4 on the season.
The Tritons secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and three, putting the Utes at an early disadvantage. Utah responded in singles play, as Hayley Roberts (6-4, 6-2) and Kaila Barksdale (6-3, 6-2) picked up straight-set victories on courts five and two, respectively. After UCSD claimed a win at No. 1 singles, Emma Valletta (6-3, 2-6, 6-1) put the Utes back in front with a three-set victory at the No. 3 position.
With Utah leading 3-2, UCSD evened the score with a win on court six. The match came down to No. 4 singles, where Dylan Lolofie battled to a second-set tiebreak but fell 6-3, 7-6(3), sealing the win for the Tritons.

Before Weber State, Allen spent 20 seasons as an assistant coach at Utah, where she helped the Utes secure multiple NCAA Tournament bids, two Mountain West Conference titles, and numerous top-five regional rankings. Allen, an All-American during her playing career at Utah, was inducted into the Utah Tennis Association Hall of Fame in 2023.
