OREM, Utah – The Utah track & field team closed out its short weekend of competition on Friday at the UVU Invitational.
Chloe Shewell got things going for Utah, competing in her first 100m dash in the outdoor season – placing seventh-overall with a time of 12.54 (aa). The senior also took fifth-overall in the 200m dash after running a 25.64 (aa).
Lindsey Peters made her season debut with a winning time of 4:47.10 (aa) in the mile while teammate
Sona Kourilova took second with a mark of 4:53.05 (aa).
In the 400m hurdles,
Bailey Kealamakia took second-overall after running a 1:01.63 (aa) with
Chloe Taylor (1:04.42 aa) taking sixth to secure another top-10 finish for the Utes while
Lela Divinity clocked in at 1:05.30 (aa) for eighth-overall.
Over in San Diego,
Rachel Bair posted the eighth-best heptathlon mark in program history when she finished with 4673 points to earn second-overall at the multi-only event. The sophomore recorded PRs in the 100m hurdles (15.30), high jump (1.5m / 4-11) and the 800m (2:20.36) to secure her runner-up finish.

The Utes will have their first split squad weekend of competition the following week when the distance crew heads over to The Farm for the Stanford Invitational (April 4-5) while the sprints crew heads to Southern California for the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational (April 5) hosted by UCLA.
