SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah track & field team will have its first split squad weekend of the outdoor season with the distance crew heading to the Stanford Invitational (April 4-5) while the sprints team flies to Los Angeles for the Rafer Johnson / Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational (April 5). In addition, the Utes will have two competitors racing at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Friday, April 4.

OFF THE BLOCKS
Of the 25 competitors racing this weekend for Utah,
Clara Mayfield will be lone Ute making her outdoor season debut on Friday, April 2, when she competes in the 10k on the Farm. The distance team has traditionally had success at Cobb Track and looks to continue that streak going into the weekend.

BAIR SHINES IN SAN DIEGO
Sophomore
Rachel Bair had a great weekend in San Diego last week, taking second in the multi-event meet. The Highlands Ranch, Colo., product finished with 4,673 points in the heptathlon – which was good for the eighth-highest points total in program history. She did so thanks to new PRs in the 100m hurdles, high jump (1.5m / 4-11) and the 800m (2:20.36) to secure her runner-up finish.

VENTERS HEADED TO DC
Former Utah All-American Emily Venters is off to another race, this time the USATF 10 Mile Championships in Washington, D.C. Race is set to start at 5:18 a.m. (MDT) and 7:18 a.m. (EDT) on Sunday, April 6, among the 32 women competing. Live results can be found on the USATF website or by clicking

The Women of Utah will host their lone meet next weekend at the McCarthey Family Track & Field Complex. Senior day recognitions as of April 2 is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. (MDT) by the finish line on the east side of the track. Meanwhile, the annual Kid's Races is scheduled to begin at 12:55 p.m. (MDT). Admission is FREE for all in attendance.
