THIS WEEK
The No. 14 Utah Men's Golf team is set to embark on its first Big 12 Championships next week at Southern Hills Country Club, entering the postseason with the conference tournament. It's just the second time in program history that the Utes will compete in the Sooner State, taking on the NCAA Regionals in Norman during the 2021-22 season. The Utes competed in their first-ever Big 12 event earlier this fall as Big 12 Match Play was held in Hockley, Texas in early October. The conference tournament includes four rounds spread across three days of play.
LAST TIME OUT
The Utes wrapped up the regular season at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate and battled a tough ten-team field in Phoenix. Seven of the competing teams were ranked inside the Top 50 while three of them sat as one of the top 15 teams in the country. The Utes finished in third, shooting 23-under while missing out on second place by just four strokes. Both
Gabriel Palacios and
Brandon Robison swung the clubs well at the tournament, ranking inside the Top 10 with a 10-under and 7-under performances respectively. Palacios finished tied for fourth to claim his fifth top five placement of the season and Robison tallied his sixth top ten finish this season. Utah's outing marks the seventh time this season that it concluded a tournament inside the top three.
IN THE RANKS
Utah remained at No. 14 in the latest Scoreboard NCAA rankings, tallying 11 straight weeks inside the Top 15. The Utes sit as one of three Big 12 programs inside the top 15 with No. 4 Oklahoma State and No. 5 Arizona State. In the individual rankings,
Gabriel Palacios ranks as the No. 35 men's college golfer in the country while
Sergio Jimenez sits at No. 40, and
Brandon Robison at No. 82.
THE FIELD
The three-day tournament includes all sixteen members of the conference. The teams are assigned into seeds based on play thus far this season. At Big 12 Match Play earlier this season, the Utes earned the #3 seed as well.

"We are extremely excited to compete this week at the Big 12 Championships," head coach
Garrett Clegg said. "It's an outstanding golf conference with some of the best teams in college golf. The postseason is what we work and prepare for all year. The pressure is completely amped up and each of these upcoming tournaments are majors. The way we look at these things is that pressure is a privilege, and this is what we want!"
TOURNAMENT DETAILS
The tournament's four rounds will cover three days as play runs from Tuesday, April 22 through Thursday, April 24 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tuesday's play will total two rounds while the final two rounds will be determined on the opening day's scores. The #3-seeded Utes will tee off between 6:30 A.M. – 7:18 A.M. MT on the first hole of the course with #1 seed Oklahoma State, #2 Arizona State, and #4 Arizona.
