Utah outgains Wyoming 541-229, improves to 3-0 on the season
LARAMIE, Wyo. - The No. 20 Utah football team used a stifling defensive effort and four second half touchdowns to defeat Wyoming, 31-6, at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday night, improving to 3-0 on the season.
Utah held just a 3-0 lead at halftime despite outgaining Wyoming 267-78 in the first half, but the Utes scored on all four of their second half possessions to pull away for good.
The Utes' defense held the Cowboys (2-1) to 229 total yards, including only 121 on the ground, while forcing two sacks and a pair of turnovers. Wyoming converted just 3-of-12 third downs and punted six times. Utah held Wyoming to 144 yards on 12-of-23 passing.
The Utes didn't allow any points until a touchdown in the fourth quarter when they held a 24-point lead with the game out of reach. It marked the first touchdown allowed by the Utah defense since the second quarter of the season opener.
Utah has limited each of its first three opponents to under 250 yards of offense.
Elijah Davis and John Henry Daley led the Utah defense with six tackles each. Daley logged both of Utah's sacks, including a strip-sack in the second quarter recovered by Lander Barton. Jackson Bennee made two stops and came away with his second interception in as many games.
Utah piled up 541 total yards offensively, including 311 on the ground - the highest rushing total since 2023. Four different Utes rushed for at least 60 yards, with Devon Dampier leading the way with 86 yards on 13 carries. Dampier also went 27-of-41 passing for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Wayshawn Parker added 80 rushing yards on 10 carries, while NaQuari Rogers rushed 13 times for 60 yards and scored a touchdown for the third consecutive game.
Ryan Davis led Utah receivers with a career-high 10 receptions for 91 yards, while Hunter Andrews contributed 106 all-purpose yards (44 receiving yards on five catches and 62 rushing yards on six carries). JJ Buchanan and Larry Simmons also hauled in touchdown passes.
Utah has put up 500-plus yards of offense in back-to-back weeks, the first time since 2022 that the Utes have done so and has tallied at least 490 yards in three straight games for the first time since 2005. Utah's rushing attack has also outgained its opponents' total offensive outputs in all three games in 2025.
