SCOUTING California Baptist
Utah vs. California Baptist: 0-0
H: 0-0 | A: 0-0 | N: 0-0
After an 8-22 campaign in 2024, California Baptist Volleyball moved in a new direction, hiring Head Coach Trevor Johnson. So far, the Lancers are off to a 4-5 start. Last weekend while hosting, CBU went 2-1 capping off their slate of games by beating the University of New Mexico by a score of 3-1. This week's action will be the first matchup between the Utes and the Lancers.
Â
SCOUTING Cal Poly
Utah at Cal Poly: 7-12
H: 4-7 | A: 1-0 | N: 2-5
Heading into the season, Cal Poly was picked to finish second in the Big West, behind the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. In last week's Mustang Invitational, Cal Poly had a perfect weekend, defeating Northern Colorado, California and San Jose State all in a sweeping, 3-0 fashion. In their only match versus a ranked opponent so far this season, the Mustangs took a 1-3 loss to Minnesota who was ranked No. 11 at the time. The Mustangs look to grow their 6-3 season record this weekend, while the Utes will be focused on making up ground in the record between the two programs.
Â
SCOUTING Saint Mary's
Utah vs. Saint Mary's: 4-1
H: 2-1 | A: 1-0 | N: 1-0
Similarly to California Baptist, the Saint Mary's Volleyball program decided to go in a new direction for the 2025 season, hiring Head Coach Tyler Hildebrand. So far, 2025 has been a rough go for the Gaels, starting off with a 1-7 record while facing a tough non-conference schedule. The Gaels' lone victory came in Grand Forks, ND where they beat North Dakota in a tight 3-2 battle. This weekend marks the first time in over a month the Gaels play matches in their home state of California.
