SALT LAKE CITY — Freshman
Abbi Ryssman came on strong for the Red Rocks during the Best of Utah meet, earning her Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after a career-high performance.
Ryssman went 9.925 on bars and 9.90 on beam- both personal-best scores to help Utah to their highest team score so far in 2026 (197.300) and their sixth consecutive win at Best of Utah. The freshman' s efforts on beam gave her the event victory (first of her career), while her 9.925 on bars tied her for second on the event with senior
Ana Padurariu and fellow freshman
Bailey Stroud.
The Red Rocks would also go on to score a 2026 team high on bars of 49.625, largely with the help of Ryssman, who was one of five athletes to score 9.90 or better on the event, and one of three to post a 9.925 or better.
