SALT LAKE CITY— The University of Utah women's tennis team is set to play Big 12 rivals West Virginia and Cincinnati this week in the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. The Utes are currently undefeated at home with a 6-0 record and are looking to extend that this week against two Big 12 opponents.Â
The Utes are currently 8-5 on the overall season, 1-2 in Big 12 play and ranked no. 42 on the ITA polls.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
The West Virginia Mountaineers are 6-5 on the season and 0-4 in Big 12 play. The Mountaineers are coming off a 5-2 loss to Big 12 opponent Baylor after failing to secure the doubles point advantage.
In doubles action, the Mountaineers see success in duo Julie Bousseau and Zuzana Saxana Kudlácková who are 5-0 on the season.
In singles action, West Virginia's Audrey Moutama leads the team with a 6-2 record at the no. 1 spot. Moutama is followed by Lucia Tognoni who holds a 6-1 record at the no. 5 and no. 6 spots. Tognoni picked up a point for the Mountaineers against Baylor when she defeated Baylor's Luna Ivkovic 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(6).

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
The Bearcats are currently 6-5 on the season and 1-3 in Big 12 play. Cincinnati is coming off a 4-0 loss to the TCU Horned Frogs this past weekend. The Bearcats failed to secure the doubles point after losses on courts no. 1 and no. 3. The match on court no. 2 was left abandoned with UC's Gabrielle Guenther and Tara Kurepa up 5-4 against TCU's Raq Caballero Chica and Jennifer Jackson.
The Bearcats are currently on a three-game losing streak and will face the BYU Cougars on Mar. 12 before facing the Utes.

LAST TIME OUT
The Utah women's tennis team defeated in-state rival BYU 4-2 Saturday Mar. 7 with strong singles performances to clinch the win for the Utes.
In doubles play, The Cougars rallied for two quick wins on courts No. 3 and No. 2 to capture the doubles point advantage.
In singles action, the Utes had wins on courts no. 4, 2, 3, 1 to clinch the overall match for the Utes. Utah'sÂ
Kaila Barksdale got it done with a 6-1, 6-0 win over BYU's YuYun Chen at the No. 4 spot to give Utah it's first point for the day.
At the no. 2 spot, Utah'sÂ
Sara Akid downed BYU's Kendall Kovick 6-4, 7-5 to tie things up in the overall match with a 2-2 score.
Utah's
Emmie Moore won her first set 6-3 but dropped her second set 6-4 to BYU's Sue Yan Tan at the No. 3 spot. Moore won her third set 6-0 to put the Utes up 3-2 over the Cougars.
On court No. 1, Utah's
Emma Kamper won her first set 6-0 against BYU's Gracie Levelston but dropped her second set 6-4. Kamper won her third set 6-1 and clinched the overall match for the Utes.
HEAD COACH RUTH ANN ALLEN
The Utah women's tennis team welcomedÂ
Ruth Ann Allen as head coach this past season. A Utah native and a Utah All-American and Hall of Famer, Allen returns to lead the program after a successful tenure as head coach at Weber State. She guided the Wildcats to a Big Sky Championship in 2023 and was twice named Big Sky Coach of the Year (2022, 2023).
Before Weber State, Allen spent 20 seasons as an assistant coach at Utah, where she helped the Utes secure multiple NCAA Tournament bids, two Mountain West Conference titles, and numerous top-five regional rankings. Allen, an All-American during her playing career at Utah, was inducted into the Utah Tennis Association Hall of Fame in 2023.
NEXT UP
The Utes will travel to Lubbock, Texas to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Mar. 19 before traveling to Boulder, Colo. to face the Colorado Buffaloes on Mar. 21. The Utes will return home Mar. 26 to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys at 3 p.m. MT.
