Utes Drop Series Finale to Kansas

Wilson, Capobianco drive in multiple runs in 10-5 defeat
Utah's 2026 record now stands at 24-8 and 4-2 in conference.
Kansas started the scoring with four runs in the first, loading the bases on two hit batters and a single before a September Flanagan hit plated the game's first run. Two batters later, a three-run double by Kadence Flanagan staked the home team to a 4-0 lead.
The first opportunity for the Utes to answer came when they loaded the bases with one out in the third, but a popfly and a groundout ended that scoring chance. Utah's deficit then grew to 7-0 as a result of three unearned runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Utes pushed across a couple runs in the fourth, thanks to a walk, a single and a two-run safety from Emily Capobianco. In the fifth, a two-run homer by Danika Wilson pulled the visitors to within 7-4, but that was as close as Utah would get to completing a comeback. Kansas increased its lead to 10-4 in the bottom of the fifth and, while the Utes did scratch out a run and load the bases with one out in the seventh, a double play ended the game.
Up Next
The Utes will begin a four-game homestand on Tuesday, when they'll entertain the Weber State Wildcats at 4 p.m.
