Utah Volleyball Opens Big 12 Play Against Ranked Opponents

Utes hit the road to face No. 21 Colorado before heading home to take on No. 17 Baylor
SALT LAKE CITY– Utah Volleyball opens Big 12 play this week starting on the road at No. 21 Colorado on Friday, Sep. 25 at 7 p.m. MT before bringing the show back home on Sunday, Sep. 27 against No. 17 Baylor with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m. MT.

The Baylor match is Utah's annual "Dark Mode" match at the Huntsman Center with fans encouraged to wear black and cheer loud.Â
Â
Additionally, a one-hour Kids Clinic will be held after the game for children K-6 on the Huntsman Center floor with the team and coaches. Fans can register their children for the Kids Clinic at universityofutahvolleyballcamps.com.

• Alyssa D'Errico makes her debut (8-3) in 2026 as Utah Volleyball's sixth head coach in program history starting after legendary head coach Beth Launiere retired at the conclusion of the 2025 season after 36 years at the helm.
• Utah returns 13 players from last season's team that stamped the program's ticket to its 20th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Utah vs. Colorado: 20-16

Coming into the match with a 9-1 record, the No. 21 ranked Buffaloes have been on a tear to start the 2026 season. CU's nine-game win streak just came to a halt after getting swept by in-state rival, Colorado State. Last season, the Buffs made quick work of the Utes in their two matches, only dropping one set versus Utah. The battle-tested Buffaloes went 4-4 in the 2025 regular season against ranked opponents (23-9 overall) and entered the NCAA Tournament as a five-seed where they swept American University in the first round. In the second round, Colorado was swept by the four-seeded Indiana Hoosiers, ending their season.

Utah vs. Baylor: 1-1

Baylor finished its non-conference play going 8-10 to start the year. The Bears began the 2026 season in Hawaii, where they beat San Diego and Georgia Southern handedly, and pulled off a gritty fifth-set victory over the Rainbow Warriors. Shortly after its opening weekend in Honolulu, Baylor battled a tough three-game stretch, suffering its first losses of 2026. No. 17 Florida came to Waco, where the Gators won in sweeping fashion. Next, in Lincoln, Neb., Baylor bounced back with a sweep over Georgia Tech, who was receiving votes in the AVCA poll at the time. Baylor found itself back in the losing column after a sweep from No. 1 Nebraska. Utah hopes for some revenge versus the Bears, after getting routed 3-0 in last year's match.
