2016: NFCA Scholar Athlete ... Played in 30 games, starting eight at catcher, first base and the designated player position … had her first collegiate hit in a win over Long Beach State … drove in her first runs as a Ute with her first collegiate homer and scored twice against Purdue … also had a pair of runs batted in a win over Stanford … picked up a hit and run batted in vs. No. 10 Washington … also had hits vs. New Mexico State, USF and BYU … had runs batted in wins over No. 24 Oregon State and No. 22 Arizona State
Prior to Utah: During her career at Esperanza High School under head coach Ed Tunstall, Roth tallied a career batting average of .360 with eight home runs and 81 runs batted in. Her senior season, she batted .408 with eight home runs and 27 runs batted in.
A four-time all-league selection, Roth captured first team honors on two occasions. She was a top-15 Orange County player as a freshman and helped guide her team to three league championships.
Roth played her club bal with the OC Batbusters and captured a Premier Platinum championship in the U18 league
In the classroom, Roth was a scholar-athlete all four years and also played tennis.
Personal: Maddie is the daughter of Joe and Amie Roth and she has one sister, Kelsea, who currently plays softball at Missouri. Maddie wants to major in communications, specializing in sports broadcast journalism.
