Upcoming Event: Women's Tennis at Colorado State Invite on September 12, 2025

The BURB team employs both “time based” and “objective based” study hall environments for student-athletes at the University of Utah. As part of time based study hall, student-athletes from identified sport programs, will be assigned weekly study hall hours to complete as scheduled in the BURB facility. Student-athletes will be required to check-into the Teamworks software program when entering study hall and to check-out when leaving study hall. Weekly hours are tracked (may also include academic meetings and tutor appointments) and reported to coaches on a regular/weekly basis.
Unlike the more traditional time based study hall protocol, Objective Based Study Hall (OBSH) offers student-athletes an opportunity to receive study hall credit for completing identified academic objectives. Typically, student-athletes will be assigned study hall check-in times (individual or by team), and will be expected to check into study hall at those times. Student-athletes will be encouraged to complete a weekly task/objective sheet with the help/oversight of the LS. As tasks/objective are completed, the LS will verify that all of the work is completed. During all subsequent visits during the same week, student-athletes will update their task/objective sheet under the supervision of the LS who will continue to confirm work is completed.
After a student-athlete has checked-out of study hall, regardless if is time based or OBSH, the LS will input a session report (in Teamworks) to be shared with the appropriate AAA that outlines what was accomplished during the session and any other relevant information that may be of value to the AAA.
